My Commuter Profile
Personality & Lifestyle
About Me
I am one of those free spirits who lives in the moment while remembering yesterday and looking forward to tomorrow. I am also a doer, mover and shaker, community activist, visionary, realist, and an individual who takes serious the conditions that are shaping our culture and society. I believe in basic human respect and with that I approach each person kindly. I know and understand that I cannot see myself. I can only understand my personality through the eyes of others. Like everyone, I also have this little person over my shoulder called "Ego." I try to be humble, open minded, accepting, and to stay at my center by loving others as I love myself.
My Modes of Travel
- Walking
- Bicycling
- Cars

My Travel Lifestyle
There is nothing like the freedom of setting out across the country with nothing more than a backpack. I love to hitchhike, ride freight trains, tag along with a trucker, drive my vehicle, live the RV life, travel to festivals, cruise the big-city boulevards, the works. When it comes to traveling, I am a free spirit that spreads its wings as far and wide as possible.
Places I've Been
I have been to every state with the exception of Maine, traveled on every interstate in the continental U.S. until the year 2007, been to every major city with a population greater than 500k, and I rode freight trains for 8 years. Through it all, I lived and experienced more than 10 lifetimes and I learned my way into deep wisdom and truth. There is much to be thankful for, even when we have nothing or no one other than ourself.
Places I want to visit
I want to visit everywhere in the U.S. once more.
My Driving Habits
I am a careful driver who likes to keep his attention on everything around me, especially the drivers behind me. I do not like a lot of distractions or loud music while I am driving. Loud music seems to crowd my vision. When I am driving, safety and being alert is number one.
My Passenger Habits
I like to listen to music, work on my laptop, sew on my patchwork, and engage in intellectual conversations.

About Shout Outs
My shout out is used to send notifications when I install features or have special announcements concerning the development and promotion of KindRideShare.net. Sometimes, I might send a shout out to bring attention to someone who is doing an outstanding job on their page, to give thanks to a donor, or to ask for your support.
Intro
Each shout out subsciption you join may only send one (1) shout out notification per week and you may opt-out of each or all shout out subscriptions you join, at anytime.
How it works
Shout Out is a networking tool that allows Chaz to manage a notification subscription list. It is used to send out special announcements related to personal happenings and events like a birthday party, wedding reception, get together, house party, drum circle, etc.
Using shout out to send SPAM and/or advertise commercial products and/or services is stictly prohibited. This, however, does not include nonprofit or personal fund raising events. Neither does it include announcing the availability of handmade arts and crafts.
Rules
KindRideShare.net has a zero tolerance for the abuse of its systems and may take any protective action deemed necessary. Such action may include restricting access to the Shout Out dispatcher or permanently suspending the account.
- Anyone can join a shout out list (membership at KindRideShare.net is not required)
- Subscribers need only verify their email address and/or connective device to receive shout outs
- No more than one (1) shout out per week, that is 140 characters or less, can be sent from a single list using Shout Out
- Subscribers may opt-out at any time
Privacy
KindRideShare.net does not own the data stored on its servers by respective users. Each user has full access to their information, to include any information recorded on their page by other users. When you join a shout out notification list your name, email address, and/or phone number is made available to the owner of the list.
The owner of the shout out you join has full control to manage their list as they see fit. This may include removing your subscription from their list and/or banning your email address and/or phone number from joining their list.
Abuse Prevention
KindRideShare.net is a community moderated platform. Should you opt-out of a shout out subscription, you will be given the opportunity to report the owner of the list for abuse if that should become necessary. Users found to be in violation of the Terms of Use are allowed to keep their list but they are not permitted to use KindRideShare.net to send shout outs.
Data Protection
Individual shout out subscription lists are not saved in a central database. Each list is stored separately within the user's account and can only be accessed using the tools provided at KindRideShare.net.

About Digital Millennium Copyright Act
This is a must read.
When linking to a background image found at any content provider other than KindRideShare.net, there a few important details you must keep in mind:
- You are solely responsible for the content you upload to your account and post on the pages belonging to others.
- Before linking to an image found on the web, or uploading any image that you did not create yourself, always check for any copyright restrictions that may apply.
- For the protection of your First Amendment rights, as well as the rights of others, there is a federal law called the Digital Millennium Copyright Act or DMCA for short. The DMCA is a part of the US Copyright Law that implements two 1996 treaties of the World Intellectual Property Organization. It criminalizes production and dissemination of technology, devices, or services intended to circumvent measures that control access to copyrighted works. It also provides a defined process for removal of content from the internet that violates the DMCA.
- KindRideShare.net must comply with all federal laws regulating the internet. With respect to the DMCA, this means I must provide owners of copyrights the ability to contact you in the event they find any content on your page that violates their copyrights.
- Whenever a copyright holder submits a DMCA takedown notice, it will be delivered directly to your inbox at all of the points of contact you provided in your account. This includes the Dispatch Messenger and text notifications if you have linked your cellular device. A copy is also delivered to my inbox for monitoring.
- If you fail to act on a DMCA takedown notice, KindRideShare.net may remove the content itself. Repeated violations of the DMCA could result in the suspension of your account, so please be attentive.
Body Shop
The Body Shop is new and there is still a long way to go. For now, folks can set their background properties. More page customization options will become available as time passes.
There are three options available, at this time:
Background color
It is important to set a background color in the event you do not use an image or the image becomes broken for any reason. Setting the background color is pretty straight forward.
Background image
Background images are an excellent way to express your general mood. For now, folks can link to any image they please by entering its URL in the space provided. In the future, members will be able to upload their own images for storage in an archive they can manage and choose from.
The best way to find background images is to conduct a Google search. A good search term is, "background images for website."
When you find the image you want, you need to open the image location then cut and paste the URL into your page using the pimper.
YouTube Player
Music is an excellent way of expressing our personality and demeanor. From its genre to tempo, music often reflects how we feel and gives hints into our worldview.
You can use your Youtube player to host any videos you please, providing they are being hosted on Youtube. However, unless your page is being used for instructional and/or informational purposes unrelated to your personality, which might violate my Terms and Conditions, I suggest you use your player to reflect your personality using music.
It might also be a good idea to use your Youtube Player to display homemade videos about yourself, experiences, and journeys.

JavaScript
JavaScript is an open-source programming language designed for creating web-centric applications. It is lightweight and interpreted which makes it much faster than other languages and is integrated with HTML making it easier to implement in web applications.
JavaScript is critical for web development. Without it, much of the special effects and dynamic functionality we see happening on web pages would not be possible.
Introduction to JavaScript
JavaScript is a scripting language that is used to create and manage dynamic web pages, basically anything that moves on your screen without requiring you to refresh your browser. It can be anything from animated graphics to an automatically generated page content.
When most people get interested in web development, they start with good old HTML and CSS. From there, they move on to JavaScript, which makes sense, because, these three elements together form the backbone of web development.
- HTML is the structure of your page like the headers, the body text, any images you want to include. It basically defines the contents of a web page.
- CSS controls how that page looks (it's what you'll use to customize fonts, background colors, etc.).
- JavaScript is the third element. Once you've created your structure (HTML) and your aesthetic vibe (CSS), JavaScript makes your site dynamic (automatically updateable).
Why JavaScript?
JavaScript is an essential programming language. Here's why:
- Javascript is the most popular programming language in the world and that makes it a default choice for web development. There are many frameworks available which can be used to create web applications with JavaScript.
- JavaScript offers lots of flexibility. It is used to create stunning and fast web applications with tons of customizations to provide users with the most relevant graphical user interface (GUI or UI).
- JavaScript is also used in mobile app development, desktop app development, and game development.
- The incredible thing about JavaScript is that you can find tons of frameworks and libraries already developed, which can be used directly in web development. That reduces the development time and enhances the graphical user interface.
What is JavaScript Used For?
JavaScript is used in various fields from the web to servers, and here's a quick list of the significant areas it's used in:
- Web Applications: JavaScript is used for adding interactivity and automation to websites.
- Mobile Applications: JavaScript isn't just for developing web applications; it is also used for developing applications for phones and tablets. With frameworks like React Native, web engineers can develop full-fledged mobile applications with all those fancy animations.
- Web-based Games: If you've ever played a game directly on the web browser, JavaScript was probably used to make that happen.
- Back-end Web Development: JavaScript has traditionally been used for developing the front-end parts of a web application. However, with the introduction of NodeJS, a prevalent back-end JavaScript framework, things have changed. And now, JavaScript is used for developing the back-end structure also.

For example, when you click on a button that opens a dialog box on the page it JavaScript working on the page that is making that possible. Also, when you submit any data without leaving the page, or content is loaded into the browser without having to refresh the page, that too is JavaScript working in the background. JavaScript is also used to collect data about use behavior, to help me better understand how my pages are working for my end-users.
Can I use KindRideShare.net without JavaScript enabled?
The short answer is NO! Without JavaScript being enable visitors will not be able to navigate the website, request additional content on a page, or access embedded content.
Is JavaScript harmful?
JavaScript can be dangerous if the proper precautions are not taken. It can be used to view or steal personal data even when you don't realize what's going on. And since JavaScript is so ubiquitous across the web, we're all vulnerable.
It is never advisable to allow third party JavaScript applications to run within a website without having a through knowledge of JavaScript and its array of uses. Any webpage that links to a JavaScript file being hosted at a third party site run the risk of allowing the third party to collect a ton of data related to user behavior and the content they are viewing. It can also be used to serve the client computer with downloadable files that can be executed on the client computer without their knowledge. Cookies
What is a cookie?
The cookie is a very small text file placed on an internet user's hard drive. It is generated by a web server, which is basically the computer that operates a website. The information the cookie contains is set by the server and it can be used by that server whenever the user visits the website. A cookie can be thought of as an internet user's ticket into the website.
What does a cookie look like?
Below is the content of a typical cookie. This one is from KindRideShare.net:
PHPSESSID:"lq5l6of8181938f501qc76bfj7"
The codes will only make sense to KindRideShare.net servers.
History of cookies
Cookies for the internet were originally developed in 1995 by browser company Netscape. The word 'cookie' comes from 'magic cookie,' a term in programming languages for a piece of information shared between co-operating pieces of software. The choice of the word cookie appears to come from the American tradition of giving and sharing edible cookies.
What is the purpose of cookies?
Cookies make the interaction between users and websites faster and easier. Without cookies, it would be very difficult for a website to allow a visitor to fill up a shopping basket or to remember the user's preferences or registration details for a future visit.
Websites use cookies mainly because they save time and make the browsing experience more efficient and enjoyable. Websites often use cookies for the purposes of collecting demographic information about their users.
Cookies enable websites to monitor their users' web surfing habits and profile them for marketing purposes, for example to find out which products or services they are interested in and send them targeted advertisements.
Different types of cookies
All cookies are the same. The only thing that separates them into "types" is now they are stored on the client computer.
Session or transient cookies
Cookies that are stored in the computer's memory only during a user's browsing session and are automatically deleted from the user's computer when the browser is closed.
These cookies usually store a session ID that is not personally identifiable to users, allowing the user to move from page to page without having to log in repeatedly. They are widely used by commercial websites for example, to keep track of items that a consumer has added to a shopping basket.
Session cookies are never written on the hard drive and they do not collect any information from the user's computer. Session cookies expire at the end of the user's browser session and can also become no longer accessible after the session has been inactive for a specified length of time, usually 20 minutes.
Permanent, persistent, or stored cookies
Cookies that are stored on the user's computer and are not deleted when the browser is closed. Permanent cookies can retain user preferences for a particular website, allowing those preferences to be used in future browsing sessions.
Permanent cookies can be used to identify individual users, so they may be used by websites to analyze users' surfing behavior within the website. These cookies can also be used to provide information about numbers of visitors, the average time spent on a particular page and generally the performance of the website. They are usually configured to keep track of users for a prolonged period, in some cases many years into the future.
Flash cookies
Adobe Flash is not as common as it used to be, but websites that use Flash for video clips or animations will store small files on your computer that are known as Local Shared Objects (LSOs) or Flash cookies. They can be used for the same purposes as regular cookies.
Flash cookies can also back up the data that is stored in a regular cookie. When you delete cookies using your browser controls, your Flash cookies are not affected. So, a website that served a cookie to you may recognize you on your next visit if it backed up its now-deleted cookie data to a Flash cookie.
You can control Flash cookies. Adobe's website offers tools to control Flash cookies on your computer.
Are cookies dangerous?
No. Cookies are small pieces of text. They are not computer programs, and they can't be executed as code. Also, they cannot be used to disseminate viruses, and modern versions of both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers allow users to set their own limitations to the number of cookies saved on their hard drives.
Can cookies threaten users' privacy?
Cookies are stored on the computer's hard drive. They cannot access the hard drive - so a cookie can't read other information saved on the hard drive, or get a user's e-mail address etc. They only contain and transfer to the server as much information as the users themselves have disclosed to a certain website.
A server cannot set a cookie for a domain that it is not a member of. Despite this, users quite often find in their computer files cookies from websites that they have never visited. These cookies are usually set by companies that sell internet advertising on behalf of other websites. Therefore, it may be possible that users' information is passed to third party websites without the users' knowledge or consent, such as information on surfing habits. This is the most common reason for people rejecting or fearing cookies
KindRideShare.net uses cookies that are essential for the website to work. To improve the website, I require the use of additional cookies to help me understand how visitors use the site, measure traffic to and from social media platforms and to personalise the user experience. KindRideShare.net does not allow third-party cookies within its domain, to include cookies often set in users computers by embedded YouTube players. Please visit my Terms and Conditions for more information.
